decent pier food a bit greasy and expensive but worth a stop
This spot is awesome! Fair rates, big dishes and the staff members are consistently super nice.
I do not recommend this place. It is over priced and the food is horrible. Me and my parents ordered the Mexican breakfast and came out to $40 for the 3 of us. The beans had no flavor and as hungry as I was in couldn't finish eating it.
Horrible flavorless tacos! And overpriced! Paid $50 for 5 tacos!!! If your looking for some bomb street style tacos for 2$ go to Three Palms instead!
I love this place! They serve delicious food, they have a nice menu, The chief cook in that restaurant is a specialist, I enjoy very much tasting all their dishes. The food is always of high qualtity, the service towards the visitors is nice. I often go to this place and I was never unsatisfied. I recommend it with no hesitation.
When I was pregnant I ate 6.....by myself...and..I swam some out to my hubby...true story...
In name, Eric's on the Pier delivers, because it's on the dang pier. It's right there! You can't miss it. I had a double cheese burger and a coke for $11. It was good. I could have saved $3 if I had paid cash and had a water instead. I'd eat here again fur-sure!🤘🏼
The Buffalo burger was stuffed with pickles and the calm chowder was salty as hell.
Good fish and chips.
The seating is scary and wobbly. I did have a good mexican breakfast and a soda.
Traditional lunch spot for tourists like us, right on the pier. Pricey but very good. If you’re a carnivore, try their famous Buffalo Burger. It’s delicious. Pro tip: the double patty version only costs $1 more than the $9.75 single(!)If you’re staying overnight you can get their food “to go” and take it back to your room to enjoy. You also eat (and drink) right there on the pier.
Beautiful and convenient location but that's about it. Ordered fish and chips, which being on a pier in Catalina, you would expect to be fresh. It was pre-frozen, overbreaded, overfried and one of the worst I've ever had. It also took about 15 minutes to prepare, despite not being busy. Don't go here in a rush, or better off, find another lunch option. The views are awesome but that's the only saving grace.
The food, and the prices of things, both reminded me quite a lot of Disneyland. At least the service was faster than your average amusement park food.
Good service. However the food is a bit on the pricier side and the quality is decent.
Good
Had a good Mexican breakfast here
Worse food I've ever eat in my whole life, without enough seats and they had a bad attitude to serve you... They used freeze patty meats and fries. Never try it.
Me and my wife have been going to Eric's since 1984. We just chill and drink Corona's. The only food I eat is their hot dog that comes on a hamburger bun everything else sucks and is waaaaayyyy overpriced. I wanted to buy this place from Trudy in 2008 until I found out how corrupt the politics of Catalina are so you can't make any money because the city robs business owners. Eric's used to be the 1st place open in the morning and the last place to close. No mas. If you want fresh fish and chips go to the end of the pier they make it fresh, Eric's comes from a box frozen. Want good food for half the price? Go to Coney Island West down the street. Two people on the island own pretty much everything on the island when it comes to food and I think they're in bed with the city counsel so Eric's and Coney Island are pretty much the last two privately owned. Bottom line drinking beer and people watching is great at Eric's but the food sucks.
Eric makes a mint - that much I can tell you..the prices are high - undeservedly high. I ordered some tacos to share with my better half, ($5.50 ea.! ) and as a few others have noted, there is on top of the high initial bill, no option to avoid a tip. Tipping is done for service.. not for simply calling a number to people sitting less than three feet away. Eric and the lady who was helping him are not the friendliest, he didn't return my greeting, though he finally thanked me after I had pointedly thanked him twice during the order. The food? All the food is frozen and/or fried save for the meats used in the tacos. The hamburgers etc are frozen patties. Onion rings are frozen too. Beer is $6 - $7 per bottle if you are desperate. I will say the tacos were reasonably sized, but aside from that..stay away. I won't return here.
Cheeseburger was sub par with tons of mustard. Not very friendly either.
Good
Way overpriced!! I've had burgers three times the size at half the price! Also dry and flavorless horrible horrible. Amazing he is still in business!!
I grew up working in Avalon in the summers since I was 12. Used to go to Eric's on the pier all the time. The hotdog burger was so good BACK THEN. Fast forward 40 years: I had one yesterday and it was "just ok". However for 22..00 for the burger, fries and a coke, I might eat here once every few months if that. If they lowered the price I'd come more often. I realize things cost more because they have to be shipped over but "Come On" Take a lesson from "IN N OUT"
Terrible, flavorless burgers. Not even lettuce on the burger. Waste of money.
Fish and chips were ok. Right on beach so it’s a great location.
Love Eric's!! Been eating there since I was a child.
To the owner: Are you interested in selling your restaurant?? please contact me.Man I would make a killing if were to sell my food there!
Food was priced high, no problem it's Catalina. When I paid by card I had no option to opt out for a tip, pretty weird but fine I'll tip you it's Catalina. When I come back and buy a churro for $1.90 and unfortunately have to pay with a $20. I expect $18.10 and not $3.10. I was Robbed 15 dollars and when. I confronted the man he claims I gave him a $5 When all I had were $20's. However it sucks I cannot prove this, but I'm warning the island. #catalinaisland
Outstanding
Fish and chips had skin and fat inside the thick crust of breading. Supermarket fish sticks are more appealing than what was served up here. Was expecting more for the high price.
The prices were unreasonably high for what you get. I ordered a carnitas burrito (consisting of only 3 ingredients: carnitas, beans, and UNMELTED shredded cheese) and my girlfriend had 3 taquitos; total was $28. If that wasn't enough money, the credit card reader made me tip 15%. 15% for what? They don't serve you the food. You order from the window. Overall, the food was nothing more than I could concoct in my kitchen in less than 10 min and was very disappointing, even regardless of the price.
Will not eat at this please again. Enjoy Catalina very much. I can make better tacos and fish and chips and more appealing. We were so hungry and after felt sick. The quality is horrendous and the price is too high. Not worth it. The service was people working the counter are not very friendly. I got fish tacos that barely had any fish. Rubios makes a better fish taco including a better shrimp taco my daughter go. She had the worst meal and was incredibly unhappy. My mom got fish and chips and it was too much food and not very good. The only decent thing was the grilled cheese. I can make a better grilled cheese. Down by the arcade they have $2 tacos. Way better taste and for your wallet. And most of all way better service. 😉
